Dr. Neeraj Bindal earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Marketing from the University of Maryland in 1991. Upon graduation, he was one of only two students selected to join AT&T's prestigious fast-track management program, where he worked as a financial analyst in the company's mergers and acquisitions and strategic planning divisions.

Although he enjoyed the business world, his lifelong interest in eye care ultimately led him to pursue his true passion—optometry.

Education & Background

Inspired by a family deeply rooted in eye care — with four ophthalmologists and optometrists among his immediate and extended family members — Dr. Bindal chose to pursue a career in optometry. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1999. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Virginia Optometric Association and has contributed to the profession through published work in Review of Optometry.

A Focus on Dry Eye & Specialty Contact Lenses

Dr. Bindal has a special interest in the treatment of dry eye disease and is committed to utilizing the latest diagnostic technology and evidence-based treatment options to help patients achieve lasting comfort and improved vision. He also has a particular passion for contact lens fitting, especially multifocal contact lenses — frequently helping patients who have previously struggled with multifocal lenses, or been told they aren't candidates for them, successfully achieve clear vision at all distances while reducing their dependence on reading glasses.

Founding A Visual Affair

After gaining experience in a variety of clinical settings, Dr. Bindal fulfilled a longtime vision by founding A Visual Affair. Combining his backgrounds in business, science, and patient care, he created an independent practice built on a simple philosophy: exceptional eye care begins with listening. Today, A Visual Affair is dedicated to providing clinical excellence, advanced technology, personalized service, and distinguished eyewear—reflecting Dr. Bindal's belief that every patient deserves an experience as exceptional as the vision they achieve.

Outside the Office

When not caring for patients, Dr. Bindal enjoys spending time with his two young children, photography, tennis, and exploring new creative pursuits. He believes the most rewarding part of his profession is building lasting relationships with patients while helping them see clearly and feel confident every day.
